There is no other series on television that compares to Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel. For me, this is one of the most cherished shows that I have ever watched in my life. There is nothing like it. I have never been more amazed by human beings more than the experts that film and produce this phenomenal show. If I had to choose a channel to watch for the rest of my life it would definitely be the Discovery Channel because there is so much out in the world that has never been discovered. These experts use the most advanced technology and resources to their advantage in order to get the shots that they do. The voice of the narrator is so calm and sincere that it allows me to properly enjoy the various scenes that are captured.
Being able to witness things on the television screen that has never been caught on camera before is by far one of the most best feelings ever. Although I am not out there in the nature when it is being filmed, it is a rewarding feeling to know that there are human beings out there that sacrifice their lives to show the rest of the world what is out there. The high definition cameras really add something extra special to the effects that are portrayed in the series. The different faces of the earth are astonishing, especially the way that the filmmakers present Planet Earth. I particularly enjoy when they slow down the speed of a certain scene when it is to fast to grasp it. My favorite scene would have to be when the great white shark powerfully emerges out of the ocean and swallows a sea otter—with its gigantic body flying through the air. When the scene is slowed down tremendously, the audience is able to see things that would never be seen otherwise. If I was on a boat in the ocean and saw that same great white shark eat the sea otter, I would barely be able to grasp on what just happened. That is what makes this show so amazing and the highest quality programming in the world.
A solid eleven episodes and other bonus material has been recorded thus far. From the North Pole to the South Pole, from mountains to the deep ocean—coverage on these hard to reach parts in the world has never been covered more perfectly. Other areas of the world such as deserts, jungles, seasonal forests, caves, fresh water, shallow sea, and the Great Plains are all covered in these eleven episodes. If you have not seen Planet Earth episodes, I highly recommend that you check your listings with your cable provider, rent, or buy the Ultimate Planet Earth Experience DVD set at your local store. Learning more about our earth is one of my favorite things. Although traveling the world is not made easily available to me at this stage in my life, watching Planet Earth has given me a much better understanding of what thrives in this magnificent world.
